International Recue Committee Youth Connections (Golden Bear)

Location: San Francisco Marina
Description: International Rescue Committee supports refugee youth across the Bay Area. Many of these kids are trying to adapt to their new environment and are healing from traumatic events in leaving their home countries, sometimes without their families. The Youth Connections provides a community and fun events to get to know the Bay Area.

Founded in San Francisco’s Richmond District in 1974, RAMS offers comprehensive services that aim to meet the behavioral health, social, vocational, and educational needs of the diverse community of the San Francisco Area with expertise in serving the Asian & Pacific Islander American and Russian-speaking populations. Description: CPR/First Aid training required for certification. Free to BWF volunteers. PLEASE NOTE: This certification will be blended learning, meaning that the video and "lecture" portion will be done online at your own time and only the skills portion will be done in-person. Most people do not understand just how desperate many of these people are...many live six to a room; there is no wireless available in Chinatown in SF...this is our chance to reach them.

Description: Our graduation for the students. Pot luck lunch, working with kyaks and inflatable, possible two boats going out with family. Certificates handed out...a highlight for the students. Please plan on arriving early, around ten, to help set up. Show up and celebrate even if you cannot come out on the sail...it matters to the students.
